Bridging the Tamar - History/Art Trip
On Thursday 14th March, UKS2 travelled by train to Saltash. Over the course of the day, we visited the Tamar Bridge Visitor Centre where we learned about how Isambard Kingdom Brunel had designed and constructed the Royal Albert Bridge. We explored his lasting impact on Saltash as well as examining how the two bridges create fascinating perspective points, linking to our Art topic for the term.
African Rhythm Workshop

This afternoon, Year 6 were introduced to traditional Nigerian rhythms by Mr Olugbeminiyi as part of his Masters project exploring how African music can be implemented into the UK music curriculum. We had a great time exploring different overlapping rhythms and even tried singing a Yoruba call and response song. The message of unity through diversity and welcoming other cultures through music ties beautifully with our Geography unit on Migration and our RE unit on Unity!
WELCOME BACK TO SPRING 2!

Dear Year 6 families, first of all, I hope you all had a wonderful Half Term with plenty of time to relax and have fun! I am really looking forward to welcoming the children back tomorrow from 8:35.

If you're interested in what learning we're doing this term, please check the links on our Class page for more information about this term's subject coverage.

Due to a timetable refresh, our PE days have changed for this term. We now have PE on MONDAYS and TUESDAYS, with the first lesson taking place tomorrow. Mondays will be our indoor sessions, where children need to be able to go barefoot.

If you have any questions, please contact me via ClassDojo or the office.

Best wishes,
Mrs Chambers
Geography - On The Move

As part of our Human Geography unit on migration, we have been exploring how immigration and asylum seekers are often misrepresented in the media. I was so impressed at the answers Year 6 developed in response to this challenging topic!
Womble Bond Dickinson Presentation

On Wednesday afternoon, Year 6 shared their Residential experiences with visitors from Womble Bond Dickinson - a group of lawyers who sponsored our trip through PCIP. Through speeches, photos, writing displays and interactive conversations with the adults, Year 6 showed off their oracy, writing and confidence at an incredibly high standard. Justice Class should all feel very proud at how well you presented yourselves and I know the WBD group are so glad they were involved with your amazing residential trip!
Class Mass - Wednesday 31st January

Year 6 took part in the morning Mass in Holy Redeemer this morning. They all behaved beautifully and we were so impressed by the children who shared the readings (without any preparation time) so clearly. They did themselves and the school proud!

PE Spring Term

  • For the Spring Term, our PE days are TUESDAYS and FRIDAYS.

  • PE kit is to be worn into schools on PE days.

  • The PE kit is as follows:

    • Yellow KB Polo shirt or a plain white t-shirt

    • Plain black/dark jogging bottoms/leggings

    • Appropriate trainers or plimsolls

    • Standard school jumper or cardigan.

    • For our gymnastics lessons, children need to be able to work barefoot (unless for a medical reason), so please wear socks, rather than tights, on Fridays!

    • Hair should be tied back - if it’s long enough to go into a ponytail, then it’s long enough to be a potential risk during the lesson.

    • Stud earrings must be removed or taped up
