Fiction - We have been reading 'The Friendship Bench'. The children have participated in drama and team games to get to know the story before using the story map to internalize the story.
History:
Today we began our history topic about Florence Nightingale and Mary Seacole. In order for the children to understand where a love of history can lead, we had a special zoom call with archaeology student, Noah Breslin, who talked about the archaeological digs he has worked on, where he has been discovering evidence from Neolithic burial sites to build the story of Neolithic people and that he found the bones of people from 5,000 years ago. The children were very excited to hear what he had to say and we might now have the next generation of Time Team!
R.E
Today the children have experienced Ash Wednesday Mass where we learnt that the ash is made by burning the palm crosses from last year Palm Sunday and it shows that we are sorry for all the poor choices that we have made. Here are a few photos of the children with their ash crosses
Art:
Our children have been taught:
to use a range of materials creatively to design and make products
to use drawing, painting and sculpture to develop and share their ideas, experiences and imagination
to develop a wide range of art and design techniques in using colour, pattern, texture, line, shape, form and space
about the work of a range of artists, craft makers and designers, describing the differences and similarities between different practices and disciplines, and making links to their own work.
