Provide a religious education …which is integrated into every aspect of the curriculum and life of the school, and adapted to the age and ability of the pupils using the Diocesan ratified programme 'Come and See'.
- Embed Rosenshine and the CAST Principles of Teaching into all aspects of our Religious Education.
- Commit to helping all of their pupils find their own vocation in life – to realising their unique God-given gifts and talents and discerning the person God has called them to be.
At Keyham Barton Catholic Primary, we use the published scheme Come and See as a resource to teach the curriculum.
Come and See is an invitation to exploration and a promise of life for everyone. The invitation is open to all.
In response to the question; ‘where do you live?’ which was asked by the disciples, Jesus invited them to; ‘Come and See.’ (John 1:39) The disciples went with Jesus ‘and spent the rest of that day with him.’
Come and See is a Catholic Primary Religious Programme for Reception, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 written by a group of experienced diocesan advisors. It is based on the theological foundations of the Second Vatican Council, the Catholic Catechism and the revised RE Curriculum Directory. It is structured in a way that supports the understanding in the Catholic Catechism which addresses the search for meaning in life, God’s initiative in Revelation who comes to meet us and our response of faith. This pattern guides the structure of the programme and informs the process of each topic, opened up through; Explore, Reveal and Respond.
